It's okay to let some joy in

As a kid, we have fond memories of summer as the season to be carefree, full of play, sunshine, and ice cream. Now as an adult, we’re juggling endless to-dos, managing schedules, and running from one obligation to the next — rarely giving ourselves permission to just play or remember what it feels like to be carefree.

You may be living in survival mode: caring for your aging parents, parenting bored kids, working nonstop, navigating loss, or just barely holding it all together. Joy, peace, and fun might feel like luxuries you can’t afford. Or like a stranger you haven’t seen in years.

We’re inviting you to reclaim the parts of yourself that have been waiting patiently in the background as the painter, the dancer, the hiker, the writer, the photographer, the musician, the goofball, or the dreamer. The version of you who knows how to play for no reason at all. You can find fun again, whether it’s picking a hobby back up or learning something new. Prioritize pleasure and let play back into your life.

You are more than your to-do list. More than your job. More than your caregiver identity as a parent or daughter. And yes, more than your burdens.

Joy, peace, and fun are not just rewards. You have a right to them, and it’s yours to claim, starting now.

It is not selfish to find joy in your own life — it is essential.
